We thought you might like to know ...

COSTUME & ACCESSORIES:

Use the ZipLoc bag provided to hold any accessories (hairpiece, gloves, etc.) for each dance. If you have two dances, use two different bags. Use a Sharpie to write the name of the dance on each bag.

Keep all costumes and their accessories in the garment bag. This keeps your costume clean and everything organized together. Put your accessory bag(s) inside the garment bag. Hang your costumes to prevent wrinkles and in the order they will be needed in the show. Know what color tights belong to what costume. Put your child's name on everything and make yourself a station in the dressing room to keep your belongings together because it is easy to lose a piece to a costume, shoes, accessories, etc.

Now is not the time to get a run in your tights without a backup. Have at least one extra pair on hand of each color that you need.

Have clear nail polish on hand to stop minor holes/runs in tights when there isn't time to change them.

Make sure your tights are clean (pink for ballet, tan for jazz & tap), you can get these items from us, please don't wait until the last minute as we may run out.

Other useful items you might want to have handy:

baby wipes to fix makeup mistakes or dirty hands

baby powder for itchy costumes

safety pins for emergency costume repairs

Band-Aids, the "invisible" kind -- the stage is not the place for Sponge Bob Band-Aids

HAIR & MAKE UP:

You save time by doing the hair & make up at home. Get the right makeup that you are directed to get. Make Up is as important to the "look" as the costume. Hair & Make Up questions are addressed in class during costume handout.

Painted fingernails and jewelry is not appropriate.

VOLUNTEERS:

Some moms enjoy volunteering, most of them are recital pros.

They are a gift to us and you. They are invaluable to keep everybody together and calm. They help organize the action in the dressing rooms, and backstage to make everything run smoother during dressrehearsal and recital.

PROBLEM & PANIC:

If some problem crops up unexpectedly putting you in a "state of panic", don't despair we always try to work and help you find a way, and it's an easier road if we all remain calm along the way.

VIDEO & CAMERAS:

The recital is being professionally video taped. This tape will be far superior to what you might shoot from the audience -- no wiggles, no backs of heads of audience members, and no disruption to those around you. Save yourself the trouble to keep up with video equipment.

Most dancers must remain backstage or in the dressing rooms during rehearsals & the recital and will miss most of the other recital dances. They would enjoy a complete recital video.

You can order a recital DVD from us. Order forms are in your costume package or available at the studio.

Class pictures and individual picture sessions are availble during the dressrehearsal.

KEEP TRACK OF TIME:

Be sure to arrive at the rehearsals and the recital at the time when you're instructed to do so. You will need all the time that we say you will, and the show WILL start whether you are ready or not.

Being late to the rehearsal / recital puts major stress on you and your child, plan ahead.

MISS CORNELIA IS THE DIRECTOR:

She has learned a few things by producing recitals for 35 years.

Listen, trust and follow her instructions because they work.

HAVE FUN:

Above all - have fun !

Parents tell us that once they get over the initial uncertainty,

they actually love the dress rehearsals / recitals -- the fun, the excitement, and the talent.
